Micromobility Mobile app UX redesign

Zeero

Redesigned an e-bike and scooter sharing app end to end — reserve, ride, return — and lifted first-ride completion by 8% over the previous version.

// context & role

An electric bike and scooter sharing service in Tehran, delivered as a consumer mobile app.

I redesigned the consumer mobile app end to end, established a scalable design system, and optimized the reservation and ride flows alongside engineers and PMs to cut operational errors.

// problem

A young service, held back by friction.

Zeero was still working out how shared e-bikes and scooters should run in Tehran. Reservation and ride flows carried friction and operational errors, and new riders were dropping out before completing a first ride.

// approach

Research the friction, then redesign around it.

01
Complete mobile-app UX redesign

Spearheaded a redesign of the whole app rather than iterating screen by screen.

02
Established a scalable design system

Built the foundation the redesigned product would grow on.

03
Optimized reservation & ride flows

Worked with engineers and PMs to cut operational errors out of the core flows.

04
Found where riders got stuck

A rider survey every three months (1,000+ responses a round), worked through with the data analyst, alongside usability tests, Clarity heatmaps and session replays.

// key work

The reservation-to-ride flow, and the money it moves.

Core flow

Reserve, ride, return

The path a rider walks every time — rebuilt to strip out the operational errors.

Vehicle map with reservation card
Find & reserve. Filterable map of nearby bikes and scooters with live battery, price, and a one-tap reservation card.
Active ride controls with slide to unlock
Unlock & ride. Reservation countdown, slide-to-unlock, and in-ride controls with support one tap away.
End-of-ride photo verification
Verify & end. A required photo of the parked, locked vehicle closes the trip — cutting disputes and misuse.
Account

Wallet, packages & profile

Making balance, debts, and ride packages legible so riders always know where they stand.

Wallet balance and transaction history
Wallet. Balance, top-up, and a filterable transaction log with plain-language reasons for every charge and penalty.
Ride package purchase screen
Packages. Ride bundles compared at a glance — vehicle type, duration, and validity, with promos surfaced clearly.
User account and profile screen
Profile. Account hub tying wallet, packages, ride history, and outstanding debt into one clear overview.
// outcomes
8%
Improvement in first-ride completion over the previous version.
Fewer
Support calls, once the rebuilt core flows cut operational errors.
  • → Higher signup-success conversion.
  • → Post-redesign Clarity heatmaps show clicks concentrating on primary actions — evidence the interface directs attention where it should.
  • → Support call volume decreased.
